CNC and precision machining inspection
Machined parts are where tolerances meet reality. We verify geometry, finish and process capability at Turkish machine shops.
01Precision is a process, not a measurement
Turkey has thousands of CNC machine shops, from small job shops to automated production cells. Capability depends on machines, fixtures, programming, tooling, temperature control and the measuring room as much as on the operator.
QUALITAS TR audits machining suppliers, performs first article and dimensional inspection, reviews CMM programmes and reports, and evaluates process capability for critical characteristics. We focus on GD&T interpretation, datum set-up and measurement method, the most common sources of disagreement.
02Typical quality risks we see
- GD&T misinterpretation and wrong datum set-up
- Burrs and sharp edges
- Thread form and gauge rejects
- Surface roughness out of specification
- Tool wear trends in long runs
- Measurement uncertainty too large for tolerance
- Damage and corrosion during handling and packing
03How QUALITAS TR supports cnc and precision machining buyers
| Service | What we do in this sector |
|---|---|
| First Article Inspection | Full layout of first parts with ballooned drawing and CMM support. |
| Dimensional and Geometrical Inspection | GD&T verification, gauge checks and CMM witnessing. |
| Manufacturing and Special Process Audits | Machining process audits including programme control and tool management. |
| Independent Quality Control | In-process and final control with measured values. |
| Supplier Qualification and Capability Audits | Capability and capacity audits for new machine shops. |
04Key inspection points
- Drawing revision at the machine
- First-off approval records
- Datum and fixturing
- Critical dimensions and GD&T
- Thread gauges (go and no-go)
- Surface roughness
- Burr and edge condition
- Cleanliness and corrosion protection
- Measuring equipment calibration
- Capability data for key characteristics
SPC individuals chart: bore diameter Ø25.000 mm
Control limits calculated from the first 15 samples. Select a scenario, then a point.
An individuals chart plots each measurement against limits at three standard deviations from the centre line.
05Standards and requirements
Geometrical tolerances are interpreted according to the system declared on the drawing, ISO GPS or ASME Y14.5. Surface texture parameters follow ISO 21920 (formerly ISO 4287 and ISO 1302) or the drawing's referenced standard.
06The sector in Turkey
Machining capability is widely distributed across Turkey, with large concentrations in İstanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Ankara, Konya, Eskişehir and İzmir.
Many machine shops also offer welding, assembly and surface treatment through partners, which should be covered in audits.
