Formulas
DFT = WFT × (VS / 100) / (1 + thinner / 100)
WFT = DFT × (1 + thinner / 100) / (VS / 100)
Theoretical spreading rate (m²/L) = VS × 10 / DFT(µm)
Practical spreading rate = theoretical × (1 − loss / 100)
Notes
Volume solids come from the product data sheet. Thinner addition reduces the solids content of the applied paint. Acceptance of DFT readings follows the measurement standard and sampling plan named in the specification, see ISO 2808 and ISO 12944.
