Supplier Audits and Assessments

Supplier qualification and capability audits

Know whether a Turkish supplier can make your product, at your volume and quality, before you place the first order.

01What the service involves

A supplier qualification audit evaluates whether a potential supplier is technically and organisationally capable of meeting your requirements. QUALITAS TR assesses the facility, machinery and its condition, process capability for your key characteristics, capacity and loading, measuring equipment, quality management system, sub-supplier control, staff competence, financial and organisational stability indicators visible on site, and export experience.

The audit is product specific. We bring your drawings or part family to the audit and look at how the supplier would actually make it: which machines, which operations would be subcontracted, how critical characteristics would be controlled.

02Why buyers need it

Sourcing decisions are often based on quotations, websites and certificates. The real constraints, such as an overloaded machine, an outsourced heat treatment with no control, or a measuring room without suitable equipment, are only visible on site.

A capability audit before award costs far less than a failed industrialisation.

03Typical applications

  • New supplier selection for castings, forgings, machining and fabrication
  • Dual sourcing and nearshoring projects
  • Supplier panel rationalisation
  • Supplier approval for regulated industries
  • Due diligence before long term agreements
  • Verification of sourcing agent recommendations

04Methodology

  1. Brief

Your part family, volumes, key characteristics and approval criteria agreed.

  2. Pre-assessment

Questionnaire, certificates and machine list reviewed before the visit.

  3. On-site audit

Facility tour, process walk, equipment and measurement review, interviews.

  4. Scoring

Capability and system scored with a risk rating per area.

  5. Recommendation

Approve, approve with conditions or not approve, with conditions listed.

Risk matrix: severity versus occurrence

A simplified 5 x 5 matrix used to rank supplier and process risks before an inspection plan is set. Select a cell.

Educational model

Rows: occurrence. Columns: severity.

Higher scores call for stronger controls: hold points, 100% checks or process changes.

05Applicable standards and references

Audits are conducted following the principles of ISO 19011. Questions are typically structured on ISO 9001 and supplemented by process specific requirements such as VDA 6.3 for automotive or ISO 3834 for welding fabricators.
